I am writing to share with my friends, neighbors and colleagues that I have been officially certified by the Winchester Town Clerk to appear on the ballot in a contested election for Winchester School Committee on March 30, 2021. Thank you to all who signed my nomination papers!
We are in a time of profound change, accelerated by the pandemic, and I will bring a valuable perspective to the Committee on social-emotional wellbeing, mental health, equity, innovation and preparing future-ready graduates for the changing nature of work. Having worked in the tech community over the past 20+ year bringing together divergent leaders, including competitors, around shared goals, I will bring valuable skills to a committee that works with many stakeholders with different priorities.
The Committee has some especially important decisions on the horizon over the next few years that will have lasting impacts on our community, including the hiring of a new superintendent, the returning of students to full in-person learning, and the building of two new schools. On the last point, I feel it is important that we have community representation during these building projects, and I am the only candidate, and if elected would be the only committee member, to represent the district for which we are building the next school over the coming 3-4 years.
Running my first campaign during a pandemic presents some unique challenges. It is not responsible to campaign door-to-door, attend house parties, or walk up to people in the town center. My campaign will have to rely on more virtual interactions, and the support of my friends and neighbors to help me get the word out to their friends and neighbors about my campaign. I have set up a website with information about me and my campaign and would welcome your support.
Please “like” my campaign Facebook page and comment/like/share the posts. When we get closer to the March 30th election, we will need volunteers to help hold signs leading up to, and on election day. In order to build momentum, we need to sign people up who live in Winchester to allow us to put campaign signs on your lawns. And, of course, we need to raise funds to help support the signs, mailings and other campaign expenses. The easiest way to make a contribution is on my website via ActBlue.
Finally, if you are a registered voter in Winchester, I’d like to ask for your vote on March 30th. Thank you!
